On July 10, 2017 Citizen Lab’s Reckless III report received front page coverage on the New York Times. This research revealed phishing attempts made against international investigators who were in Mexico probing the mass disappearance off 43 students. This builds on a growing body of research that outlines how government-exclusive spyware produced by the NSO Group has been used in Mexico against journalists, human rights advocates, lawyers, and members of government opposition. This work was done in partnership with R3D, SocialTic, and Article 19.
