In an interview with Click Here, Citizen Lab research assistant Noura Al-Jizawi comments on her experience being targeted by surveillance technologies. She sheds light on how such technologies enhance oppressive regimes’ ability to order up “sophisticated subversion campaigns.”
Al-Jizawi says “I believe that there was no single moment that the regime left me alone (…) When it comes to digital repression, I’ve been through a lot of phishing attempts…disinformation campaigns. There was an attempt to hack my devices, and that was the first time I officially met the Citizen Lab.”
