On November 20, the BBC held a conference called “International Broadcasting Without Barriers”, bringing together politicians, broadcasters and carriers to discuss issues surrounding the jamming of satellite TV broadcasts and the blocking of Internet services.

Citizen Lab and Canada Centre for Global Security Studies Visiting Research Fellow in International Broadcasting Karl Kathuria was asked to write a piece, titled Barriers to Broadcasting on the Internet [pdf], to discuss the issues facing broadcasters online, drawing on the Citizen Lab report, Casting a Wider Net: Lessons Learned in Delivering BBC Content on the Censored Internet [pdf], into the topic, and covering some of the other current challenges.
