Two of Canadaʼs most prominent tech activists & thought leaders battle it out at our next Toronto roundtable. Since the advent of the Internet many have warned of a new dimension of warfare. The fifth domain of cyberwar has been said to be more dangerous and threatening than conventional war by air, land, sea, or space. With cyber attacks becoming increasingly sophisticated, as was seen with the ʻStuxnetʼ cyber attack on Iranʼs centrifuges in 2009, it has become more necessary to establish rules of engagement around cyber warfare. However, in the absence of any international treaty establishing what constitutes an act of cyber aggression, nobody has been able to agree on what cyber warfare actually constitutes. How much of this phenomenon is hype, and how much of it is reality? Can and/or should cyberspace be secured, and if so at what cost? Join us to debate and discuss these important issues.
