Citizen Lab Research Manager Masashi Crete-Nishihata participated in a plenary panel at the Seoul International Media Conference, which took place from 22-24 June 2012 at Yonsei University. Crete-Nishihata spoke about the work of the Citizen Lab in identifying the four phases of Internet regulation, including the most recent phase of “access contested”.
“We really feel this is a watershed moment for us,” Crete-Nisihihata said. “The stakes are becoming much higher than just the denial of information.”
Other panelists included Donny Budhi Utoyo (Executive Director, ICT Watch), Anja Kovacs (Project Director, The Internet Democracy Project) and Professor Kyungsin Park (Korea University).
