Citizen Lab Research Associate Christopher Parsons will be speaking as part of a panel on “Reclaiming your Privacy in a Digital Age,” hosted by the Toronto Public Library. The event will be hosted on Thursday November 10, 2016 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at the Lillian H. Smith branch at 239 College Street, Toronto ON.

Event Description:

In the age of Big Data and constant connectedness, it’s easy to feel like privacy is a relic of the pre-digital age. But what about those of us who are uneasy about sacrificing this basic human right for the convenience of new technologies?

Our panel – featuring Alison Macrina of the Library Freedom Project, Christopher Parsons of the Citizen Lab at UofT, and Brenda McPhail of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, will discuss surveillance threats and privacy rights and responsibilities, and will help participants get acquainted with technical tools that help people take back their digital privacy in the information age.
