People who do not type Chinese may be surprised to hear that popular Chinese Input Method Editor (IME) keyboards can function as keyloggers, transmitting your keystrokes over the Internet to enable “cloud-based” support functions to improve character prediction when typing.
In this talk at the DEF CON 32 convention on August 11, Jeffrey Knockel and Mona Wang will discuss how any network eavesdropper may read the keystrokes of popular Chinese IME keyboard users. The affected keyboards include the three most popular Chinese IME keyboards: Sogou, Baidu, and iFlytek, which are used by almost 800 million people.
