Cyber Stewards Network Partner ICT Watch is one of 18 Indonesian organizations nominated for a World Summit for the Information Society (WSIS) prize in 2017. The WSIS prizes have been organized by the United Nations since 2012, and supports the Internet community in achieving sustainable development goals by 2030.

Director Ron Deibert was profiled in the Mozilla Foundation’s StoryEngine, which curates stories about Internet leaders and advocates, and gave an interview outlining the Citizen Lab’s work.
The 2017 Citizen Lab Summer Institute, which will be held in Toronto, Canada from July 12 to 14, is now open for proposal submissions.
The Cyber Stewards Network is pleased to announce the release of a report titled “An Overview of Internet Infrastructure and Governance in the Philippines.” The report outlines the key actors, regulatory structures, and challenges facing the development of the ICT sector in the country, as well as privacy and cybersecurity concerns.
We are releasing a more comprehensive “checklist” consolidating our thoughts on how best to confront the lack of accountability in the commercial spyware trade.
The ‘Black Code’ documentary film, based on Citizen Lab Director Ron Deibert’s book of the same name, will be in theatres as of April 14th, 2017. It will also be screened as part of the Human Rights Watch Film Festival in London on March 10 and 11, 2017, and is to be followed by a discussion on both evenings, and again in Toronto on April 6th.
On February 12, 2017 Citizen Lab’s Bitter Sweet report received front page coverage on the New York Times. This research revealed espionage attempts made against public health officials who were opponents of a controversial Mexican soda tax.
